gematria Effect is a term used to describe the study and use of numerology and the occult in order to interpret a text or uncover hidden meanings. The study of Gematria dates back to ancient times, with its roots in Hebrew, Greek, and Latin cultures. This concept is used to interpret words or symbols according to their numerical values, or the concept of Gematria that they represent.
At its most basic level, numerology assigns each letter of the alphabet a number – called "Gematria" – which can then be used to interpret texts for hidden meaning. For example, if we take the word 'love' and break it down into its numerical components (L=3, O=6, V=4 and E=5) we can see that when added up it equals 18 - 6+6+6 which is known as a powerful love number in numerology.
This practice has been used throughout history by multiple cultures for many purposes. Jewish mystics use Gematria for meditation purposes just like astrologers use numbers for predicting future events. In Judaism it was believed that each letter of the Torah (the first five books of Moses) contains divine energy which could be unlocked via numbers. Over time this system of analysis became increasingly complex with detailed rules on how words should be interpreted depending on which culture you were looking at them through.
